New tenant Apple required structural modifications to double the height of its new store at the Liverpool ONE shopping, residential and leisure complex.

  • SCOPE OF WORK

    APPLE STORE

    • Analysis of new loadings.
    • Design of CFRP strengthening solution to provide additional capacity to sections of beams and beam /column connections.
    • Location of existing post-tensioning tendons.
    • Removal of concrete at tendon locations and removal of duct from around local strands.
    • Installation of resin grout anchors around exposed strand.
    • Cutting of strand.
    • Sequential controlled demolition of post-tensioned concrete beams.
    • CFRP wrapped around beams to accommodate increased shear loads.
    • Installation of additional CFRP strips to enhance longitudinal bending strength.
