Located between junctions 16 and 17 of the M6 motorway in Cheshire, the bridges were part of a £3 million repair project.

  • SCOPE OF WORK

    CONGLETON ROAD AND MALKINS BANK BRIDGES

    • Inspection of concrete cracking and corrosion of supporting piers of two structures caused by de-icing salts and constant saturation.
    • Hydrodemolition and grit blasting to remove concrete which was contaminated by chloride.
    • Reinstatement of damaged concrete using sprayed concrete.
    • Installation of sacrificial galvanic anodes to protect reinforcement from further corrosion.
    • Treatment of water generated during hydrodemolition to render it safe to enter the drainage system.
