A 43-storey residential development which was a focal point of the Elephant and Castle redevelopment in London.

  • SCOPE OF WORK

    STRATA

    • Long spans achieved despite complex geometry - structural depth of 200 mm on spans up to nine metres.
    • Stage-stressed transfer beam controlled deflections while construction continued above.
    • Elimination of downstand beams.
    • Rapid construction schedule of approximately one floor per week.
    • Option for an additional storey, whilst maintaining height of original structure.
    • Slab depth reduced by 50-75 mm per floor, equivalent to a 3 m reduction in the overall building height.
    • Approx. 2000 m³ of concrete saved within the superstructure (15% cost reduction).
    • Reduced depth of piled foundations due to savings in dead weight.
    • Minimisation and recycling of waste.
